Respect. Teen Dating Violence Prevention

Melissa McClain is the program coordinator for the Respect Program at Akron Children’s Hospital. Respect is a youth led program that empowers young people to educate their peers on issues of teen dating. Since 2006, over 900 trained students have educated 31,000 students in 45 schools in Summit, Stark, and Cuyahoga County. The success of Respect has enabled Melissa to travel and speak for local, state, and national audiences on teen dating and the power of Youth Led prevention programming. Melissa is passionate for primary prevention and is thrilled to be a part of the youth movement toward community awareness and social change.
